Part 29 - The Witcher 3 - 2nd playthrough - Death March

Priscilla, aptly explaining the main quest line of the game.

Off blog, I reached level 15 while exploring Points of Interest in Velen then returned to the main quests. I told Priscilla I had found out where Dandelion was and assured her we would get him out.

So now we need to find Dudu the doppler to have someone impersonate the dead Menge as only he can order the release of Dandelion from the dungeon.

I had a level 9 secondary quest in my log called The Gangs of Novigrad. I selected it and it led me to this dwarf, Cleaver, who we met earlier at Dijkstra's bathhouse. He's one of the four Novigrad gang leaders, and he wants Geralt's help in finding and killing Whoreson Junior.

Get Junior is a main quest with almost the same objectives as this one, and doing this quest also updates the Get Junior quest.

Cleaver told me nothing I hadn't already learned from Dijkstra, namely that Junior had a casino and an arena which both should be investigated to find him.

After clearing the casino of Junior's henchmen, I met this halfling named Rico who was on Junior's debtors list. He told me Junior was working for the Redanians.

Now even without knowing every detail of the Witcher saga, I have deducted by now that the kingdom of Redania not only wants to stop the expanse of the Nilfgaardian empire but also wants to annihilate all non-humans, and I don't like that last part one bit. So my decisions in the game will favor Nilfgaard over Redania. I've actually been reading the Witcher Wiki, but there is no way I will be able to read everything written on this game world and the story. Just look at the length of this one entry! I did read this one as it was super interesting. It is about Ciri's birth father and politics. Lots of politics.

Geralt doesn't like politics and wishes he could just go back to his simple life killing monsters for gold.

Not for a while, Geralt, but we'll get there eventually.

I told Dijkstra that Junior worked for the Redanians. Dijkstra told me that I should visit Vernon Roche, a Temerian military commander who is also a well known character in the Witcher world, but I had to read up about him to know what he wants exactly. Well, he wants Temeria's freedom so much that he is ready to befriend even Radovid. Not a good decision, in my opinion.

After getting a shave at the drunk barber, I still had to clear Junior's arena before visiting Roche. Once I was done at the arena, I went back to Cleaver whose favorite word is "hidey-hole." He told me some stories about Junior including how he had killed his own father, then he gave me 300 crowns for completing The Gangs of Novigrad.

On my way to Roche. It's nice to leave behind the dirty city for a while and be on horseback again.

Vernon Roche. I know I will at one point have to decide whether to side with him or Dijkstra. That I will help assassinating Radovid is no question to me. I've been thinking long about this, and I'm now leaning towards siding with Roche. I don't remember what I did in my first game about the war, as I only cared about making sure Ciri became a witcher, because I was convinced that was what she wanted. In this playthrough, I'm thinking about making her Empress of Nilfgaard. Maybe it's the more grown-up thing for her to do?

Roche took me to see Radovid.

He was blabbering about living chess pieces and asked me if I saw what he meant. I told him no, I didn't, and then he blabbered some more. All I could think of was how much more fun it would have been fighting drowners on a riverbank than sitting there listening to him.

Radovid finally told me where Junior was: in a mansion in Oxenfurt where Radovid had put him. Time to go see that disgusting sicko.

There he is, among three of the countless women he tortured and murdered.

Whoreson Junior, aka Cyprian Wily, you don't have much longer to live.

Geralt, looking like a shampoo commercial, asked Junior what he knew about Ciri.

Junior retold what happened at his mansion a few weeks earlier. Dandelion and Ciri came to rescue Dudu whom apparently Junior had captured.

The reason Junior was angry with them was that they had failed to deliver him Dijkstra's treasure. Junior wanted it as payment for his help in fixing a phylactery which is a small box / device that can be used to lift a curse.

Ciri found Dudu and untied him. He turned into Junior and tricked the henchmen, so he could escape the house.

After learning everything I wanted from Junior, I killed him. I would say he got what he deserved, but he would in fact deserve much worse.

Anyway, this concluded the Get Junior quest.
